Maradona sacked from managers job

Diego Maradona has been sacked as Argentina coach following a unanimous vote by the country's Football Association  not to renew his contract, an AFA spokesman said on Tuesday.Maradona's spell as coach of Argentina's national soccer team was as turbulent as the rest of his  life & this was only to be expected as
defeats such as the 4-0 beating by Germany, left the fans & the AFA in total shock after going into the World Cup Finals with such high expectations. Argentina are left with a big job ahead to reclaim there position as one of the top footballing nations in the world & i can only wander who they have in mind for the job in hand.

Appointed Argentina coach on November 4 2008, he made a winning start with a 1-0 victory over Scotland 15 days later. Then, for  Maradona's first competitive match as coach, in March, in which Argentina thumped Venezuela 4-0, only to lose 6-1 to Bolivia in the next match .
World Cup qualifying defeats by Ecuador, Brazil and Paraguay left Argentina in danger of missing out . Victory in their final two qualifying games against Peru and Uruguay made sure they were on the way to the finals. Maradona appeared before a disciplinary committee, held by Fifa,on November 15 following a foul-mouthed outburst after Argentina's 1-0 victory over Uruguay in their final World Cup qualifier on October 14. He was banned for two months and fined. Revelling in the spotlight,  Maradona provided his own show on & off the pitch at the World Cup finals.
Argentina won all three of their group games and beat Mexico 3-1 in the second round but it all went wrong in the quarter-final against Germany when, badly organised , they were beaten  4-0.
Maradona,  has been criticised for failing to bring the best out of the team, said it was the worst day of his life.
